I have been busy crocheting when I'm not painting and what I have been crocheting are these sweet owls. I have hopes of putting them into an etsy shop all of their own, something set aside from my artwork and some place where just crochet resides. But for now, I must be gentle with myself and all the demands I have piling atop my plate. As a good friend said "not everything has to happen at once"... and it's so true. I so often, so so often think something has to happen right then and there or it won't happen at all. I get caught in the excitement and inspiration, then afterwards find I'm quite overwhemed. I am hoping as the summer begins, school ends, and our schedules clear... that I can lazily create the summer away as my boys play and splash through the sprinkler.
My owls are of my own design :)
Twila the Owl
(Inspired by the Queen's Jubilee that I know very little about, but it looked so beautiful and grand it was hard not to join in!)
I didn't like the way a yarn beak looked, and I like to give all my creatures a heart... so with some thought I came up with something different and mixed media. These owls beaks and hearts are made of sculpey, hand shaped, baked, some were stamped for texture, and then sewn on. I love the way they turned out and will continue them in this fashion.
Hope you liked my little owl friends! Now back to the canvas!
p.s. If you would like to give any of these owls a happy home I would of course love to hear from you! They are very friendly, take up little room, and just beg to be cradled!
